Beas (Huelva) España

General Information:

Beas, at twilight, the imposing tower of San Bartolomé looms over the twon as a landmark and bounday between the Condado and the Andévalo, hinting at the sierra and the sea.
Built in the Sevillian Gothic-Mudejar style, the parish church of San Bartolomé (14th century) stands near the chapel of the hospital of Santa María de Gracia (1566). The highlights of the Beás Calendar are the amateur bullfights known as the Capeas de San Bartolomé and the preparations for the Live Nativity Scene, held at Christmas.
The main attraction in Fuente de la Corcha, on the outskirts of Beas, is the parish church, which hosts the celebrated Romeria de Nuestra Señora de la Salud, festivity every May. On 1st of May, Labour Day, the villagers of Candón set out in procession from the parish church to the Caseta, or pavilion, to celebrate the Fest of Saint Joseph the Worker.
In Clarines, on the road to Niebla, the people of Beas celebrate an August procession to the patron saint´s shrine, the Satuario de Nuestra Señora de los Clarines. Navahermosa also hass its own festivity, held in the month of September to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy. And if the fiestas of Beas are not enough, there is also a procession to Calañas, specifically to Sotiel Coronada, on the second weekend in May, to make offerings to Our Lady of Spain.
