BERGA RESORT

Berga (Barcelona) España

General Information:

Bergashire stretches out 22,54 Km2 to its boundaries. Berga is the capital of the county and it is located right in the middle of the region. It represents its economic and social crossroads. Very often it has been considered as a synthesis of both.
The city spreads down the gentle slopes of Queralt mountain range and faces the river Llobregat valley. The municipal district adapts to Santa Eulalia parish district. Subsequently, in 1963, La Valldan municipal district was annexed to the former.
The so called Llobregat Axis (road C.16/E.09) runs through the whole region. From this axis Berga has at its disposal three different accesses.
The city is hardly 30 minutes' drive from Manresa and 70 from Southern Barcelona. The opening of the motorway Terrassa-Rubí as well as Vallvidrera tunnel network, have connected the city with Barcelona at the stage of Via Augusta street in less than an hour. The acces to this motorway (Terrassa-Manresa), just off crossing of the transversal axis with the road C-16, is abou 25 to 30 minutes' drive from Berga.
Going north you will find Cadí tunnel (26 km from Berga) which links Seu d'Urgell (45-50 minutes) and Puigcerdà (30-35 minutes) to the city.
The opening of Puymorens tunnel in France has redounded to the internationalization of Llobregat Axis as a firts class route between Barcelona and Tolouse (itinerary E-9 of the EU). Thus, it has opened our region to this important French economic area.
The transversal secondary network links Berga with Ripoll, Vic, Cardona, Solsona and Sant Llorenç de Morunys.
It is obvious then, the privilege of the city location which enables visitors to picnics and trips to spots and places of a surprising beauty all the year round. In snowy weather the most important skiing resorts such as: Rasos de Peguera, Port del Comte, La Molina and Pas de la Casa, are just a few steps away.
