General Information:

Mugardos is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, un Galicia, Spain. Lying in the shore of the ferrol tidal estuary, this small borough occupies a mere 12.8 km² is divided into 4 parishes: Franza (Santiago), Meá (San Vicente), Mugardos (San Xiao) and Piñeiro (San Xoán). Despite its limited size, the area boasts a large number of options.
Mugardos´s major attraction is the Cantón da Mariña promenade, which is lined with numerous restaurants serving the famous local speciality polbo á mugardesa (Mugardos style octopus). Its other great tresasure is La Palma Castle.

Places of Interest:

· La Palma Castle: standing on the southern shore of the Ferrol tidal estuary and facing San Felipe Castle, is one of finest examples of the Ferrol-Ortegal region´s built heritage. The origins of this castle date back to 1597, and it stands in an inlet at the entrance of teh Ferrol tidal estuary. Originally it did not house any weapons, and was used merely as a watchtower. The current building was constructed at the end of the 19th century. It was last used as a military prison, and its famous inmates include Antonio Tejero, responsible of the attempted coup of 1981. At the start of the 21st century it was acquired by a hotel chain, and the start of the restoration and refurbishment work is still pending.
· Pazo de las Condesas: Pazo de las Condesas, which stands out for its magnificent balcony with a wrought iron balustrade.
· Pazo de Rilo: Actually is a Hotel Monumento Pazo de Rilo (Hotel-Monument).
